Character Name: Zari Tarazi

Canon Point: Season 7, end of episode 2- before she goes into the totem

Canon Abilities: Zari’s totem allows her to control gusts of wind. That’s it. Non-superhero abilities, however, include: speaking 3 languages fluently (english, farsi, french), using her social savvy to deceive or manipulate (she's just really good at acting- which btw she's a classically trained actor), and she has fantastic memory recall... generally used for ridiculous things like carb counting or keeping track of how long it's been since she's had a donut.
Inventory: Her totem, the key John gave her to his pocket dimension house (though I understand if this doesn’t work immediately or at all), her cell phone, and the cute red flapper outfit she was wearing.

🦋 Personality

Option 1:

1. Has your character always believed in magic? Do they have something influencing their perspective on the supernatural/metaphysical/spiritual from their past? How do they feel about magic?

Zari grew up in a world with superheroes, so even from a young age, she believed in magic. It’s hard not to when you were the child that found a dragon egg at age 10 and bonded with the dragon that hatched. Because this was the history point that changed past!her’s timeline, and the Anti-Metahuman act was never passed, it’s safe to assume that there was no shortage of powerful superheroes and villains around in her timeline.

Even later, when Zari joined the Legends, she had first hand experience with magic- especially with John Constantine as a sometimes member of the team… which then leads to her now very complicated relationship with magic. She knows it’s useful and can be used for good, she’s seen that plenty of times. But she also knows that it often comes with a price, or can be less than ideal in the wrong hands.


2. What mythological creature would your character most like to be? Which do they identify with? Which would they dread being?

Zari would rather NOT be a mythological creature, thank you very much. But, like, if she had to pick? Maybe a Siren/Mermaid, because they’re gorgeous and can use their powers to get what they want. (Something she would have taken more advantage of when she first joined the Legends/before her time with them getting Character Development.) A dragon would be a second choice, but that feels really too on the nose given that she’s known as Dragon Girl back in her timeline because of the incident with Wickstable at Heyworld. It’s less that she wants to use powers to get more things, and more that she’s scared of being found undesirable or useless. Something cute and powerful would give her, even if false, a sense of belonging and usefulness.

But really, the most important part is still Looking Good. She would DREAD having to become something awful and ugly, like a banshee or baba yaga. ZERO cool powers would ever outweigh looking like an old hag.


3. What song would a siren sing to your character to lure them closer? Why?

Ever Fallen in Love for a very In Universe, no questions asked, answer. A younger Zari, even by a year, never would have even known the song exists. But it’s through her relationship with John that he introduces it to her and that she instantly finds herself connecting to. If she were to hear this song, even with as shitty of a breakup she had with John, she’d still be finding herself trying to find where it was coming from.

He’s the first person she ever truly loved and felt as though she didn’t have to play a part around- she could just be herself. Not the Zari that she created as her Brand since childhood stardom found her. There’s also the fact that she’s still in love with him, no matter how angry or upset she is with how everything went down. She’d do it all again in a heartbeat and hearing that song would give her the hope that… maybe it’s him. Or a sign.


4. If there's one person your character would follow to another realm, who would it be and why? If there's no one, state that and explain why.

A few years ago, Zari’s answer would’ve been no one. (Well, it was technically Behrad to the Waverider, but only bc he tricked her by stealing her phone.) She was too self-absorbed to actually follow anyone for a heroic or adventurous reason- though she might say she would for the Optics™.

Now, however, she’d follow just about her entire team of Legends to a different realm or dimension, for either heroic OR adventurous reasons. After all, she basically has already if you say timeline shenanigans are the same as realm jumping shenanigans. But if had to be pared down to ONE person, her immediate answer will now and forever be her brother, Behrad. Especially after she had to deal with his death and helping the Legends find a way to resurrect him (culminating in a fight against history’s greatest villains to the Thong Song by Sisqo). Family means too much to Zari for her to pick anyone above him, even if maybe John would’ve been tied as an answer a few episodes prior to her current canon point.
